This summer, the result of a study by two psychologists was released in the American Psychological Association's e-journal. This study obtained and reviewed 47 research test studies submitted to the FDA for approval of the most recent antidepressants (Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft, etc.). The psychologists found that in judging the effect of a treatment in terms of how well it performs over and above a placebo (sugar pill), the effects of the antidepressants were deemed "clinically negligible."

A second study done by a Seattle psychiatrist reviewed 96 clinical trials and discovered that in 76% of the cases reviewed, the placebo duplicated the response to antidepressant drugs. In other words, 76% of the time, the sugar pill created the same "benefits" that the drug did.

It is evident that antidepressants don't work.

What does work is care and attention. That DOES help people.

Over $6.1 billion is being paid annually for antidepressant psychiatric drugs that have been broadly shown, in more than half the cases, to be secondary in effectiveness to a sugar pill. At least the sugar pills have the marked advantage of not producing violent behavior and psychosis as side effects of withdrawal.

Obviously, the need for effective therapy is great.

I have always strongly opposed the use of antidepressant medication. Why?

My philosophy has been to get to the root cause of WHY the body has a particular symptom. I have found that depression and anxiety (to name a few) are rooted in a hormonal imbalance.

Isn't addressing the imbalance much better than masking the symptoms with dangerous drugs?

The adrenal gland makes the very important hormones that, when balanced, result in a sense of well-being, stability, and calm.

Don't allow yourself or a loved one to be drugged in a dangerous fashion. There is a natural solution to depression and its associated symptoms. And, this solution lies in restoring the natural function of the body.

If you or someone you know is experiencing depression or anxiety, BioHealth offers an adrenal profile test that is easy to take and provides much needed information on hormonal balance.
